Civil Rights Advocate Kimberle Crenshaw Keynotes University of Rhode Island Diversity Week

The University of Rhode Island's Diversity Week is getting a boost from a top civil rights advocate. On September 27th, Kimberle Crenshaw will serve as a keynote speaker for the 20th annual event.
Crenshaw will appear at 7 p.m. at the Edwards Auditorium on the URI Kingston campus. She will discuss, race, gender and education during her presentation.
The Crenshaw speech is free and open to the public. URI Diversity Week officially runs from September 22-30 and there will be several other sessions to attend.
Crenshaw is own for her coverage of critical race theory. Currently, she serves as a professor at Columbia University School of Law and the UCLA School of Law.
At Columbia, she founded the Center of Intersectionality and Social Policy Studies in 2011 and currently holds the title of director. Crenshaw has been a professor at the school since 1995.
One of the most interesting events of Crenshaw's career was her role assisting Anita Hill's legal team at Clarence Thomas' Supreme Court nomination hearings in 1991. She holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a law degree from Harvard.
