Children’s Author Cressida Cowell Holds Book Discussion at School in Bedford, England
May 27 2016
Carson Ingle
Last week, children's author Cressida Cowell made an appearance in Bedford, England. She visited Modern Junior School on May 17th for a book discussion and signing.
The neatest part of the visit was that the kids present got an advance copy of "How to Fight a Dragon's Fury". Cowell signed copies of the book for students that is not slated to be released until September.
In addition to talking about the book, Cowell shared her love of writing and how she creates fictional worlds. Those in attendance also got the opportunity to ask questions.
Cowell has created the well-received novel series "How to Train Your Dragon". There has also been an award-winning film made by DreamWorks Animation off of the books.
Cowell has another series of books that follows the story of Emily Brown. The first from those offerings, "That Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown", won the Nestle Children's Book Prize in 2006.
In 1999, Cowell had her first book published. She studied English at Oxford University and Illustration at St. Martin's and Brighton University.
