Child Advocate Jonathan Kozol Keynotes Poverty Welfare and Religion Symposium in December

Longtime fighter for social justice Jonathan Kozol will keynote an important event this winter at the Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion. He is set to speak at their Poverty Welfare & Religion Symposium.
The symposium runs December 4-6 at the school's Cincinnati, Ohio campus. Registration is currently available for the free event.
There will be a host of additional speakers alongside Kozol who will present over the three days. There is also lodging information available for those traveling from out of town.
Kozol was shaped by an early career as a teacher in the Boston Public Schools. He also became involved in the civil rights movement of the mid-1960's.
Kozol's first non-fiction book, "Death at an Early Age", won the National Book Award in Science, Philosophy and Religion. Many of his writings since also deal with the pitfalls of public education and have received several honors.
Kozol has received two Guggenheim Fellowships, is a two-time Rockefeller Foundation fellow, and has picked up fellowships from the Field and Ford Foundations. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in English literature.
