Last Wednesday, the 10th annual Google I/O conference served as a platform for the company to unveil new products.  Google CEO Sundar Pichai kicked off the conference at 1 p.m ET.

In addition to those in person to hear from Pichai, many tuned in via a live stream on the Google website.  Besides all the new announcements, there were educational sessions available at the conference.

Some of the topics addressed included Android developments and virtual reality projects.  Pichai talked about artificial intelligence being the next wave of technology growth.

Pichai was announced as the CEO of Google last August.  Prior to achieving that top position, he was Google's Product Chief.

Pichai first joined the company in 2004 and led the efforts for a suite for Google Chrome and Google OS.  Later on, he oversaw the development of apps for Gmail and Google Maps.

Prior to arriving at Google, Pichai worked in product management at Applied Materials and as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company.  He holds master's degrees from Stanford and Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.
