There is no denying the popularity of celebrity chef Mario Batali. He should be feeling the love when he makes a stop through Santa Rosa, California next week.
Batali will be making an appearance to discuss his new cookbook on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Luther Burbank Center for Arts. "Mario Batali - Big American Cookbook" features 250 regionally-organized recipes.
At the event, he will be speaking with one of his favorite west coast chefs, Duskie Estes. One ticket to attend is $66, a two-ticket offer is $92 and each package includes a copy of the cookbook.
Batali gained some recognition on the New York City restaurant scene in the 1990's and opened the wildly successful Po in 1993. That spawned the Food Network program, "Molto Mario", which ran from 1996-2004.
In 2002, he was named "Best Chef: New York City" at the James Beard Foundation Awards. He won "Outstanding Chef of the Year" from the foundation in 2005.
Today, Batali has ownership stakes in restaurants in New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Singapore and Hong Kong. He has authored 11 cookbooks including the Big American Cookbook.
