Cartoonist John McPherson is holding a conversation about his work in Utah November 3rd. He is the featured speaker at Arts Spark in Saratoga Springs.
Arts Spark is a business and community portal for artists online. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the Dee Sarno Theater at Saratoga Arts.
In addition to discussing his career. McPherson will also hold a book signing. Tickets are $15 for regular admission, $10 for members of various arts communities and free for students with a valid ID.
McPherson's "Close to Home" strip appears in 700 newspapers across the world. He has compiled his cartoons into over 20 different book collections.
There are many other licensed products that have emerged from McPherson's cartoons, including an award-winning greeting card line and annual block calendar. Amazingly, he started out his professional life as a mechanical engineer before transitioning to the role of cartoonist.
Since, McPherson has become a popular speaker as well, speaking to over 200 groups about humor and his life. In 2004, he received a lifetime achievement award from his alma mater, Bucknell University.
