Carolina Mountains Literary Festival Names Author David Haskell Keynote Speaker

The Carolina Mountains Literary Festival is bringing 28 different authors in next month. One of those heading to Burnsville, North Carolina is keynote speaker David Haskell.
This is the 11th annual festival and it runs September 8-10. There are 50 free events during the three days under the official festival theme of "Journey Out. Journey In".
Haskell is the Saturday evening speaker. He is appearing on behalf of the N.C. Humanities Council Pulitzer NC Program.
In 2013, Haskell's book, "The Forest Unseen: A Year's Watch in Nature", was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in nonfiction. His next book, "The Songs of Trees", will be released this upcoming spring.
Haskell serves as a professor of biology and environmental sciences at the University of the South. He has also been the Chair of Biology at the university.
Haskell is a past fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and a current fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies. If you want to read his current writing, he blogs frequently at Ramble.
