One of the most influential African-American business leaders of all-time is coming to Little Rock, Arkansas. BET founder Robert L. Johnson will speak at Little Rock's Regional Chamber of Commerce annual meeting on November 18th.
The meeting is held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Statehouse Convention Center's Governor Hall IV. Tickets to attend cost $75 per person or $750 for a table.
It is the 151st annual meeting for the chapter. Johnson should be able to provide a motivational presentation about how he reached the pinnacle of business.
At the beginning of the cable boom, Johnson launched BET in 1980. It became the first African-American company listed on the New York Stock Exchange a little over a decade later.
Johnson sold BET in 2001, but remained CEO until 2006. He has also launched two other companies that went public, RLJ Entertainment and RLJ Lodging Trust.
USA Today has named Johnson one of "The 25 Most Influential Business Leaders of the Past 25 Years." He is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Princeton University.
