Bestselling author Richard Paul Evans has long been a favorite among young readers. Yesterday, he was able to meet some of his fans in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a series of appearances.

During the day, Evans visited North Adams Community Schools and Northern Wells Community Schools districts. At 7 p.m., he hosted a book signing event at Barnes & Noble.

Evans autographed copies of his latest book, "The Mistletoe Secret." Prior to the session, he also held a brief conversation about his recently-released work.

Evans writing career had humble beginnings but quickly launched him into the mainstream. He had to self-publish his original novella, "The Christmas Box," in 1993.

That book became the first to ever reach number one on The New York Times bestseller list in paperback and hardcover at the same time. Since, Evans has released over 30 other bestsellers, mostly catering to children.

Through the platform of his original book, Evans launched The Christmas Box International organization. They have helped over 35,000 children who have been victims of abuse.
