Mar 17 2016
Carson Ingle
Alex Sheen talks about the powerful movement he created with Because I Said I Would all around the country. Yesterday, he was the keynote speaker at Austin Peay University's annual Unity Celebration.
Sheen addressed the attendees at 7 p.m. The event was free and open to the public.
Former keynote speakers at APSU's Unity Celebration have included prominent television journalists John Quinones and Soledad O'Brien. Having someone young and successful like Sheen speak was definitely impactful to the students who decided to attend.
Sheen founded Because I Said I Would shortly after his father passed away from small cell lung cancer in 2012. It is an organization that makes and keeps promises for the betterment of humanity.
Since starting his non-profit, Sheen has been a nonstop force on the speaking trail. In 2014, he spoke at over 110 events and he has been a TEDx closing speaker three times.
All of his speaking engagement fees are donated back to the charity. Prior to Because I Said I Would, Sheen was a corporate executive and the youngest manager for Hyland Software.
