Award-Winning Singer Rita Moreno Delivers Berklee College of Music Commencement Speech

Earlier this month, graduates at Berklee College of Music got a real treat. They were able to get practical industry advice from an award-winning performer.
Singer Rita Moreno delivered the school's commencement address and received an honorary Doctorate of Music. The ceremony was held on May 7th at 10 a.m. at the Berklee Performance Center.
Moreno spoke for eight minutes in a unique rapping style. In the presentation, she discussed the importance of the graduates having motivation and inspiration in their lives.
Moreno's 70-year career is one of the most distinguished in the history of the entertainment business. She is one of just 12 performers to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony.
The most notable role Moreno has starred in was the 1961 film "West Side Story". Her portrayal of Anita won her the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
Moreno has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She is a member of the California Hall of Fame and the International Latin Music Hall of Fame.
