Award-Winning Actress Anna Deavere Smith Speaks at Gantt Symposium Next Week

Next Thursday, the Gantt Symposium will welcome an excellent speaker.  Award-Winning Actress Anna Deavere Smith sill speak at the event that is presented by Wells Fargo.

Smith's appearance will take place at the Knight Theater at the Levine Center for the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Her presentation is titled, "Snapshots: Portraits of a World in Transition".  

The event begins at 7 p.m.  Ticket prices range from $10-$20.  

Smith will base her performance at the symposium upon the conversations she has been having across the country.  She will depict some of the people across the various walks of life she has met. 

Smith is best known for these one-woman plays that address various social issues.  She became notable with her plays that addressed the LA Riots, including the Tony-nominated "Twilight: Los Angeles".  

In addition to performing, Smith is a professor at the NYU Tisch School of Arts.  She is a recipient of the National Humanities Medal and a 2016 Guggenheim Fellowship for the theatre arts.
