ATLAS Speaker Series Presents Computer Scientist Umar Saif

Last Monday, renowned computer scientist Umar Saif made an appearance at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He was apart of the school's ATLAS Speaker Series.
Saif spoke from 4:15-5:30 p.m. in the Roser ATLAS Center. He talked about leveraging technology for human need.
The discussion was sponsored by the ATLAS Information and Communication Technology for Development program. It is a master's program at CU where students design technologies that address student needs.
Saif is the chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board. He is credited for being a leader behind the revitalized IT system in Pakistan.
Saif is a founder of Plan9, a start-up incubator in Pakistan that has helped grow 118 companies. He is also the founding vice chancellor of the research university, ITU-P.
In 2001, Saif received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and began working at MIT. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010.
