One of the biggest recent newsmakers will close out the Foothill College Celebrity Forum Speaker Series this spring. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently returned from space, but he will speak on May 18-19.
His presentation will begin at 8 p.m. in the Flint Center on the campus of De Anza College in Cupertino, California. This is the 49th year of the series.
The event is sponsored by The Foothill-De Anza Community College District. Individual tickets and passes for all speaker events are available.
Kelly set a record with 340 consecutive days spent in space on board with the International Space Station. He was Commander of the ISS during his year-long stay and returned to Earth just last week.
The expedition gave NASA the ability to analyze Kelly against his identical twin brother and examine the effects of longterm space travel. He has previously made several space expeditions and been a commander on the ISS.
Last year, Kelly landed on Time's list of "The 100 Most Influential People" in the world. Prior to becoming an astronaut, he spent 25 years in U.S. Navy and retired with the rank of Captain.
