Americans still remain fascinated with space travel and Apollo 8 is one of the more fabled missions of all-time. Retired astronaut Frank Borman leads a discussion about Apollo 8 on May 14th at the Heritage Flight Museum in Burlington, Washington.
Borman will be joined by his former crew members Jim Lovell and Bill Anders at the event. Anders is the original founder of the museum they will be appearing at.
The trio has not appeared together in over a decade and the Skagit Valley Commissioners have already declared May 14th Apollo 8 Day. Ticket prices range from $1000 to $10,000.
Borman was the Commander of Apollo 8, the first space mission to successfully fly around the moon. In total, only 24 humans have accomplished this feat.
Prior to Apollo 8, Borman set a fourteen-day spaceflight endurance record with Gemini 7. He also went on to a successful post-NASA career, serving as CEO of Eastern Air Lines from 1975 to 1986.
Borman is a recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor. He is a member of the International Space, National Aviation, and U.S. Astronaut Halls of Fame.
