Tomorrow, the woman who started the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge will keynote a very special event at Cleveland State University. Nancy Frates will speak at the Women's Leadership Symposium.
The second annual event will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wolstein Center. Frates will give her presentation in the afternoon.
Registration for the full day costs $45 for alumni, faculty, and staff of either Cleveland State or Ohio University. It is $65 for anyone else and lower rates exist for those just wishing to attend the morning or afternoon sessions.
When Frates 27-year-old son was diagnosed with ALS in 2012, she knew she had to do something. Her family launched the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and the rest was history.
The viral campaign raised over $220 million for ALS research. She also operates the Pete Frates #3 Fund, which helps aid her son's battle with the disease.
Frates is a member of the Board of Directors for the ALS Association. She works as an Assistant Team Leader and Director of Training at Keller Williams Realty.
