Actress Viola Davis Speaks at Women’s Empowerment Event in Raleigh

This Saturday, the 22nd annual Women's Empowerment event was held in Raleigh, North Carolina. The day-long conference was keynoted by actress Viola Davis.
It was held at PNC Arena with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. Ticket prices ranged from $40-$85.
In addition to Davis' presentation, there was a host of other lectures and workshops at the event presented by Radio One of Raleigh. The event was originally established to honor Women's History Month in 1995.
Davis acclaimed acting career began on the stage. She won an Obie Award in 1999 and has won two Tony Awards.
In 2008, Davis received a film breakthrough with her performance in "Doubt". For her role, she garnered the first of two Academy Award nominations.
Davis currently stars as Annalise Keating on ABC's "How to Get Away with Murder". Last year, she became the first African-American woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
