Actor Patrick Dempsey Speaks at Hometown Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Next Week

Maine native and actor Patrick Dempsey is headed home for a speaking engagement this Thursday.  He is the guest speaker at the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce monthly chamber breakfast on Thursday. 

The breakfast will be held at Lost Valley in Auburn.  There were only 250 tickets available for the event and it was almost sold out immediately following the announcement of Dempsey as speaker. 

Dempsey has done a great deal to help his local community.  In 2008, he helped found The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing.  

Dempsey has had a career in film and television that spans over 30 years.  His most notable role came recently in a decade-long run as Dr. Derek Shepherd on the series "Grey's Anatomy".

During the 12 season run, Dempsey was nominated for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series.  Prior to Grey's Anatomy, he primarily starred in films and his turn to TV helped popularized the turn of big Hollywood stars to the small screen. 

Films during the late-1980's such as "Can't Buy Me Love" and "Loverboy" establish Dempsey's acting career.  He also has a passion for car racing and has competed in such prestigious races as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Baja 1000 and the Rolex 24.
