Last Tuesday was a special day for actor Michael Chiklis for more than one reason. He gave a memorable commencement address at the University of Southern California's School of Dramatic Arts.
Chiklis also got the opportunity to hand his daughter her diploma at her ceremony. The 117 graduates along with their family and friends packed Bing Theatre.
Chiklis spoke about finding your grounding in the chaotic field of entertainment. He also spoke about collaboration and said that the students should already be starting projects with their peers.
Chiklis is best known for a seven-year run on the crime drama "The Shield". For his leading role, he received both a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe Award.
Currently, Chiklis plays Captain Nathaniel Barnes in the TV series "Gotham". His first lengthy tenure in television came on the ABC series "The Commish".
In addition to being a TV star, Chiklis has also held notable film roles. He has been able to star as Ben Grimm/The Thing in two editions of the Fantastic Four series.
