Actor Louis Gossett Jr. GIves Addiction Keynote Speech at Horry Georgetown Technical College

Louis Gossett Jr. will give one of his most important speeches of the year next month.  That is when Gossett Jr. is slated to talk to people about addiction and recovery at Horry Georgetown Technical College.

He is the keynote speaker on February 25th for the Addiction and Recovery Lecture Series.  The series is in its ninth year and was started to inspire people to fight their addictions.  

Gossett Jr. will speak at 7 p.m. at the Burroughs and Chapin Auditorium on the school's Conway campus.  The event is free and open to the public and also includes a free dinner starting at 6 p.m. at Cafe 1100.

Gossett Jr. has known to audiences worldwide for his Academy Award-winning performance in An Officer and a Gentleman and his Emmy-winning performance in Roots.  His acting career that has spanned five decades includes several other memorable roles in films like Iron Eagle, Toy Soldiers, and the Enemy Punisher. 

As one of the most versatile actors of our time, Gossett Jr. got his start on Broadway as a 16-year-old.  The New York City native went to Abraham Lincoln High School and New York University. 

In addition to an acclaimed acting career, Gossett Jr. has always been a friend to his community.  He founded the Eracism Foundation to set up educational centers for people of all ages throughout the country.
