Actor and Author Hill Harper Speaks to Philadelphia Middle Schoolers About Financial Literacy

This December, over 2,000 middle schoolers in the School District of Philadelphia got a special pre-holiday treat. They got to hear from actor and author Hill Harper as part of MassMutual's FutureSmart Challenge.
The MassMutual FutureSmart Challenge is a nationwide program that teaches leadership along with smart educational and financial choices. Events are held in NBA arena's and MassMutual teamed up with Harper and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Harper spoke about making educated decisions with money and hit five different subject points through the hour and a half long presentation. He even handed out $20 bills for answering quiz questions about financial choices correctly
While many know Harper from his variety of notable TV roles, there is another side of him that is near and dear to his heart. He has published five books, including "The Wealth Cure: Putting Money in Its Place".
Harper is a member of the Obama for America National Finance Committee. He is also involved in political advocacy on an array of other issues and holds degrees from Brown University and Harvard University.
As an actor, Harper has been working for over two decades but most notably played Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on CBS' CSI:NY. He received a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for three straight years for his portrayal of Hawkes.
