Feb 07 2018
Carson Ingle
As one of the leaders behind the Women's March, Tamika Mallory is one of the country's most well-known activists. That made her an ideal choice to speak last month at a special Martin Luther King Jr. Banquet.
The event was held South Puget Sound Community College's Artist & Lecture Series. It took place on January 13th from 6-8 p.m.
The cost of admission was $40. Mallory talked about Dr. King's influence in her activism and enjoyed her visit to the Pacific Northwest.
Mallory is the co-chair of the Women's March. The worldwide protest attracted an estimated five million people and marked the largest protest day in United States history.
Mallory is also the founder of Mallory Consulting. She advocates for gun control legislation, women's rights, health care and police behavior.
Mallory originally became a member of the National Action Network at the age of 11. Her parents were founding members of the civil rights group.
