After becoming a household name through an iconic film that carried her name, Erin Brockovich draws interested crowds everywhere she goes.  On Thursday, she was the keynote speaker at Fort Worth's annual Planned Parenthood Luncheon.

The luncheon was held at the downtown Omni Hotel for over 700 attendees.  It raised over $232,000 for local Planned Parenthood efforts.

Brockovich stated the need for more giving in society.  She also empowered the crowd and shared lessons that she has learned on her own journey to success.

There is no question that Brockovich certainly has a tale built straight out of Hollywood to tell.  Despite lacking formal legal education, she was instrumental in building a winning case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company in 1993 for drinking water contamination.

The law firm she clerked at, Masry & Viittoe, won a $333 million settlement, the largest direct-action lawsuit payout in U.S. history.  The film, Erin Brockovich, took the story to the masses in 2000 and was nominated for Academy Awards in the Best Picture and Best Director categories.

Since, Brockovich has worked on several other anti-pollution lawsuits.  She has also become a successful television personality and bestselling author with 2001's "Take it From Me: Life's a Struggle, But You Can Win".
