Jennifer Storm is an abuse survivor and a top advocate for victims in Pennsylvania. On Thursday, she was the keynote speaker for the Synder County Coalition for Kids Conference.
The fifth annual event was held at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove. This year's focus was on substance abuse, treatment and prevention as it relates to young people.
There were an estimated 100 people in attendance. Storm was able to talk about her experiences and how others can get help.
Storm experiences addiction and abuse problems while still a teenager. She made two suicide attempts and also dealt with the loss of her mother to breast cancer.
Fortunately, Storm found the light at the end of the tunnel and has been sober for 17 years. She is now the official Commonwealth Victim Advocate.
Storm has written four books and has been featured on major news outlets across the country. She is the 2012 winner of the Gail Burns Smith Award.
