Jan 01 2016
Carson Ingle
There are not many people who make cultural observations as deftly and hilariously as comedian Maz Jobrani. That makes Jobrani a rather intriguing and entertaining guest for the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth.
He will discuss his book, "I'm Not a Terrorist, But I’ve Played One on TV: Memoirs of a Middle Eastern Funny Man", on January 27th at Dallas City Performance Hall. The discussion begins at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are $50 to attend.
Jobrani will also sign copies of the book and describe what it was like to grow up Iranian-American with show business aspirations. His previous appearance at the 2014 World Affairs Council comedy concert was a big hit among members and non-members alike.
Jobrani is known as a touring member of the "Axis of Evil" comedy group and also recorded a Comedy Central special with them. He has also had three Showtime specials as a solo act.
Jobrani has been featured on shows like The Colbert Report, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Additionally, he has appeared as a character on over 50 different scripted series like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Malcolm in the Middle, and The West Wing.
Some of his recent projects include starring in the indie comedy hit, Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero, and playing Aladdin's Jafar in the Disney Channel film The Descendants. He is a regular panelist on NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me as well.
