Activist Anita Hill Speaks at Nassau Community College
Feb 17 2016
Carson Ingle
Anita Hill's story still proves impactful with crowds today. Hill will speak on March 8th at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Nassau Community College.
Her presentation is titled "Reimagining Equality". The appearance is a part of the school's Sexual Harassment Awareness Days and Women's History Month.
Hill's event will be held on campus in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building. The event is free and open to the public, but seating will be limited.
Hill notoriously testified against Clarence Thomas during his 1991 Senate confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nomination. She discussed her accusations of sexual harassment that occurred when she was his assistant with the U.S. Department of Education.
Her bold moment in the spotlight led in part to Congress passing a law that allowed sexual harassment victims to seek damages. Her work on those issues continues today.
Hill is a Senior Advisor to the Provost at Brandeis University and a professor on the graduate school level. She also serves on the Board of the Directors for Tufts Medical Center, the National Women's Law Center and the Boston Area Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights.
